Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Privacy Expert / Data Privacy Officer (SME) with 3–6 years of experience in privacy compliance and legislation, particularly within Canadian regulatory frameworks or equivalent jurisdictions. This role requires strong analytical skills and deep familiarity with Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs). The ideal candidate thrives in consulting environments and is capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while contributing to the design and implementation of privacy programs.

Tasks required:

  • Lead and conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Provide strategic privacy guidance on data handling, risk assessments, and system implementations.
  • Interpret and apply relevant privacy laws and regulations (e.g.,  Privacy Act, PIPEDA, GDPR, or equivalents).
  • Support client engagements and internal stakeholders across multiple, fast-paced projects.
  • Collaborate in developing and updating privacy policies, procedures, notices, and data protection documentation.
  • Contribute to or lead the development of privacy programs and supporting assets, where applicable.
  • Analyze complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable policies and operational recommendations.

Requirements:

  • 3–6 years of experience in privacy compliance, legal, or data protection roles, preferably with Canadian privacy law exposure.
  • Experience working in or with a consulting environment is a PLUS.
  • Hands-on experience with Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) is a MUST.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop strategic, practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, shift between priorities, and manage several concurrent projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience drafting reports or presenting findings.

Preferred/Bonus Skills:

  • Experience in writing privacy policies or developing privacy programs and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, data governance, or information risk management.
